These are doors that neither litigants nor victims pass through calmly in normal times. The Annecy court has called for the “night of law” this Tuesday, October 4 from 5:30 p.m. For the occasion, free and guided tours were organized behind the scenes of the courthouse.
Children and parents, but also schoolchildren and students, rushed to discover the secrets of the court. Some visitors even really got ready for the game by sitting in the box of the accused or by taking their place as a magistrate of the prosecution. For Etienne Vulliet, local justice project manager for the heads of jurisdiction, this night of law is a “real success”. The organizers considered more than 800 entries.
For this 2022 edition of the “night of law”, the court asked to highlight the duties of women. If the theme has recently been central to government discussions, this choice has instead led to a significant increase in the handling of domestic violence cases by the Annecy court, which is therefore no exception. To echo this observation, the “night of law” continued with a conference on the legal and historical evolution of women’s rights. Many associations were also present on the spot, such as AVIS (victim assistance and judicial intervention in Savoie) or CIDFF (information center on the rights of women and families).
The choice of this theme seemed rather judicious since it greatly aroused the curiosity of the public. An interest which was particularly characterized during the theatrical representation of a reconstitution of a trial. The actors were forced to give the performance twice because the large audience hall did not hold the entire crowd at one time.
Magistrates, clerks, lawyers and more generally all court professionals were proud to see the undeniable proof of the public’s interest in legal issues.
