This is how the Minister of Energy wants to recover 4.7 billion in excess profits in Belgium
Tinne Van der Straeten has tabled its proposal to capture superprofits from the energy sector. It goes further than the European regulation decided on Friday, both in terms of the amount of the levy and the duration.

La Federal Minister of Energy, Tinne Van der Straeten (Groen), presented this Sunday, in the restricted Council of Ministers, her “proposal for a crisis contribution in the energy sector”. Here is the content.
This proposal follows the decision of the Council of European Ministers on Friday, taken in the form of a regulation, to authorize the Member States to provide for such a mechanism. The European framework provides for an authorization to capture excess profits on nuclear, renewable and lignite generated beyond an income of 180 euros per megawatt/hour (MWh) from December 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. But freedom is left Member States to go further and provide for an even lower ceiling and a longer period.
