In Toulouse, public works popularize their innovations and their trades!
The first edition took place in 2019. A success that the Regional Federation of Public Works wished to renew this year with the same objective, that of making people discover its trades, but also the wish to focus this time on the actions adapted by certain companies in terms of ecological transition. An issue to which Eurovia responds, for example, with its Power Road. Thanks to it, roads can now capture solar energy, store it, and then return it to surrounding buildings and infrastructure. Another innovation (a world first!) is the microtunnel that the Bessac company built with Ultra Low Carbon reinforced concrete jacking pipes. Or the “Urban freshness island” furniture by Spie Batignolles, which notably offers USB sockets powered by solar panels!
Many job offers
Visitors will be able to discover all these creations in the Ecological Transition space set up on the Place du Capitole on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October, in Toulouse. They could then take part in events (immersive cube, machine driving simulators, etc.) and attend job demonstrations within the Exploration division, young apprentices, trainers and professionals being available to the public to inform them, exchange and share their experiences. Here again, innovations will have pride of place, like those put in place to reduce hardship on construction sites: the exoskeleton, the bionic glove, the autonomous wheelbarrow… A 3D model of the 3rd line of the Toulouse metro will allow also to dive into the smallest details of the work.
Finally, this event will also be an opportunity for recruiters to promote their positions to candidates. In 2019, a hundred job offers were offered. And this year, given the very strong growth in demand, there should be even more opportunities. Thus, in partnership with Pôle emploi and the Local Mission of Toulouse, the organizers will offer job dating during the two days (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). As a result, jobs (and sometimes training) as VRD mason, pipe fitter, civil engineering formworker, mechanic, miner, electro-mechanic, machine operator, VRD site manager, dry network installer, public works labourer, etc.
