42-day weather trend: Indian summer with more than 20 degrees, but frosty cold November

Sugar Mizzy October 2, 2022

A few more frosty nights are built into the latest forecasts for the north. On the other hand, there are signs of a warm phase of Golden October, especially in the first third of the month. After that, the temperatures in Hamburg drop again, but with around 20 degrees at the end of the month, November is approaching. November is more likely to give us the cold shoulder. An average of about 10 degrees is the highest of feelings. In addition, the nights regularly get cold. In the first decade, the multiple zero point is undercut.

When it rains, Peter holds back in the north. Significant rain falls only in mid-October. After that it looks quite dry apart from a few showers.

In the west there are warm temperatures of more than 20 degrees in the first week of October. After that, it stays at an average temperature. It is then usually around 15 degrees, with a low point at the beginning of the last decade of October. 10 degrees and frosty nights last for a few days. After a small excursion into the higher temperature areas at the end of the month, it then goes into the usual cooler areas. November in particular brings plant-like temperatures. In our example, Cologne, the second third of October seems to be very rainy, and there are always a few showers afterwards.

Weather forecast for 42 days for Berlin

The East remains just below the 20 degree mark, as our example Berlin shows. On the other hand, the mild phase at the beginning of October lasted until about the middle of the month. With the first real rain showers, however, the temperatures then drop. Then comes the real crash, which is particularly noticeable in the nights at the beginning of the last decade of the month. These get freezing cold. Shortly before the end of the month, however, the temperatures rose one last time to almost 20 degrees. This is accompanied by precipitation. However, it is not much. According to current forecasts, November will deliver what it promises: cold autumn weather garnished with a few showers.

Weather forecast for 42 days in Munich

The 42-day trend for the south using the example of Munich (prediction as of October 2, 2022)

Our graphics promise a really nice Indian summer in the south at the beginning of October. Until the rain starts in the middle of the month. It is the only rain worth mentioning in the current forecasts. Then only a few drops fall sporadically. In the example of Munich, it is also around 20 degrees in November. As the latter to make up for something, the temperatures then fall to autumnal levels. More than 10 degrees are then rather rare. During the night, temperatures stayed in the single digits for the entire 42 days – including a few drops into the minus range. Frost is announced.

Here is a small climate check for our autumn months of September, October and November:

  • Meteorologically, autumn begins on September 1st and ends in November
  • According to the calendar, the change will take place a good three weeks later. The reason is the statistics and the comparability of seasons
  • The hottest temperatures usually bring autumn early, when the sun is still strong and the days are long
  • The leaders in autumn with 36.5 degrees are the weather stations at the observatory in Jena (measured in 1911) and Bühlertal in Baden-Württemberg (measured in 1947).
  • And even in the first third of October, peaks of just over 30 degrees are recorded in the weather hit lists
  • At the same time, however, the cold sets in with built-in night frosts and repeatedly lowers the snowfall level in the course of autumn
  • Statistically, we can hope for around 330 hours of sunshine on average in Germany
  • There is an average of around 190 liters per square meter of rain
  • The temperature is around 9 to 10 degrees
  • One of the Indian summer is the most beautiful in autumnwhich usually starts in mid-September

Reading Tip: More about the weather potential in Germany in autumn

Before people thought about forecasting the weather, they noticed certain regularities. This is where farmer rules came from. Those were – if you will – the first forms of long-term weather forecasting. Of course, a lot has happened rapidly in this area to date and we are light years away from the origins.

The first weather observations and the recognition of connections and physical laws established the modern form of weather forecasting. And it definitely has a lot to offer. Some of the probable goals depend on long-term forecasts. Originally developed primarily for the energy industry, they are also being used more and more in our everyday weather world. The experimental monthly and seasonal forecasts of the American weather service NOAA, for example. And also our 42 day trend – based on the European weather model – goes into the multi-week range with charts for maximum temperature, minimum temperature and precipitation. Combined with the expertise of our meteorologists and editors to give you a look at the current trends and facts for the coming six weeks.
