Toulouse: fairgrounds settle on the island of Ramier without authorization
While the Saint-Michel festival had been canceled this week for lack of an agreement on its place of reception, fairgrounds settled without authorization on the island of Ramier. The operation took place at night. The Mayor of Toulouse condemned.
In a press release issued this Saturday morning, the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc “condemns a coup de force by the showmen”. According to this press release, this Saturday, October 1, at 4 a.m., around twenty fairground caravans settled on the island of Ramier, without any prior authorization having been given to them. In order to protect the premises and to prevent other illegal installations, the municipal police deployed.
The dispute between the showmen and the Town Hall of Toulouse about the holding of the Saint-Michel festival is not at its first episode. Demonstrations and blocking of the bypass had been organized in recent weeks. Wednesday September 28, after the failure of the discussions concerning the place of reception for the Saint-Michel festival, the fairground organizers had recorded the non-holding of the event for this edition 2022.

Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse, President of Toulouse Métropole reacted: “I condemn what must be called a coup de force, in defiance of all the security rules. Despite the discussions we had with them these In recent weeks, some showmen have chosen not to respect the commitments made. This intrusion compromises the elements of convergence that we were able to outline together last week and undermines the trust essential to the work to be carried out jointly for the coming years. .”
In a tweet, the Mayor of Toulouse then clarified “the launch of the procedures to take legal action for illegal occupation is in progress”.
