Fu Yu highlighted in Portugal’s victory over Sweden in the Team World Cup — DNOTICIAS.PT
Portugal beat Sweden 3-2 this Saturday, in the second of group six, and will play the qualification for the round of 16 of the final of the World Cup of teams with Romania, in a meeting scheduled for Monday, in Chengdu, in China.
The great figure of the national team was the table tennis player rooted in wood, Fu Yu (17th in the world ranking), who secured two victories against Linda Bergstrom (51) and Matilda Hansson (304). Shaoi (53) was defeated by Linda Bergstrom. Young Inês Matos (289) could not defeat Filippa Bergand (220).
Portugal (25th ranked team) lost in the first round against China-Taipe by 0-3 and will decide a qualification, sixth ahead of Romania and runner-up in Europe in 2021 and European champion in 2019 and 2017. Romanian team beat Sweden 3-2 and lost with China-Taipe 1-3.
They are qualified for the round of 16 as the first two teams of each group and the four teams with the highest conclusion that finished in third place. There are four groups with five teams and two groups with four teams (Portugal is in group six, which has four teams).
The Romanian national team consists of Bernadette Szocs (31), Elizabeta Samara (37), Adina Diaconu (72), Andreea Dragoman (96) and Irina Ciobanu (199).
At this year’s European singles, held in Munich, Bernadette Szocs was European champion in women’s doubles and runner-up in mixed pairs, Elizabeta Samara and Andreea Dragoman were runners-up in women’s doubles and Adina Diaconu bronze medal in women’s doubles.
The men’s team (ninth team in the world ranking) will face Brazil this Sunday (Friday), from 3 am (Portugal time), after having beaten Slovakia (25th) by 3-1, in the first game of the World.
