The former dolphinarium of Rimini will be a hospital for sea turtles
Renovating the former Rimini dolphinarium and transform it into the new hospital for sea turtles: the task will suspect a Cetacea Foundation and Nautical Club who have been awarded the concession of the historic structure on the seafront of Marina Centro after having presented the preliminary project to the Municipality. Now he asks the outcome of the amnesty after the demolition of building abuses. The goal is to open by 2 June next year. The municipal administration would also aim for Easter. Once fully operational, the marine clinic il doubling of the current relief capacity of the non-profit organization.
In a first phase “there will be 6 to 8 tanks for turtles, a veterinary clinic and a quarantine for turtles”, explains the president of the Cetacea Foundation, Sauro Pari. The project was developed in partnership with the Nautical Clubwhose president Gianfranco Santolini explains that the students of the sea school, “slowly, by attending the biologists of the Cetacea Foundation, will become guides for the children who will come to visit the new dolphinarium”.
Among the other services provided, there is also one nautical base and a multimedia museum. The dealers are preparing at Palazzo Garampi the request for internal changes to the structure, but the interventions are expensive and the funds are in hiding. For this it was crowdfunding campaign launched. Pari urges citizens and entrepreneurs “to give us a hand to change the face of this important and historic space for Rimini, in order to adapt it to the new city that has changed a lot in recent years “.
The Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Rimini, Anna Montini, considers the new function of the building to be “absolutely desirable” because – he said on the sidelines of a press conference on the subject – “door of the absolutely valuable contents for the city and marine environment“.
