The National Council “welcomes” the implementation of free buses in Monaco
The National Council reacted on Wednesday evening to the Prince’s government’s announcement of the introduction of a free bus test in the Principality for two months from Monday in a press release.
While specifying that this one was done”at the request of the Assembly”.
“After several years of debate on the potential effectiveness of this measure, the National Council is happy that the government is launching, in consultation with elected officials, this free operation.”
“A guarantee of quality of life for all”
He pursues, “By introducing a test of free buses for 2 months, the government and the National Council are encouraging motorists residing in the Principality to abandon their individual vehicles in favor of softer mobility on all their trips in town.
For the National Council, it is a “approach that is responsible, ecological and economical, which can become a guarantee of quality of life for all, provided that it is adopted by the greatest number.”
And while the Prince’s government has not planned to make the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco’s city buses free, the National Council does not rule out asking “that this measure is extended, then becomes permanent”.
And to unfold his arguments:relieve congestion and make traffic more fluid in the Principality currently has more than 49,000 vehicles per day for intramural journeys, fight more against carbon pollution, collectively save time and money on our respective journeys.”
