keys to changing jobs
A forum around professional retraining is taking place this Friday, September 30 in Toulouse. From 9:15 a.m. until 5 p.m., companies and specialists in employment and training issues answer your questions at the Cité in Montaudran (formerly Latécoère halls). This is an opportunity to find keys to get started if you are thinking of job changer. Philippe Mazza, regional delegate of the Local Business Skills Operator is one of the co-organizers of the Clés d’Avenir forum. He was the guest of the New Eco this Friday on France Bleu Occitanie.
Professional retraining is a subject that has been talked about a lot since the Covid crisis. Was there really a boom in retraining desires?
There has been a clear boom, as evidenced by an Ifop study from June, which says that indeed most French people wonder today and want to change jobs. There are even 87% who could be led to take the plunge. It really is a hot topic.
87% is pretty huge. There is a problem somewhere, right?
No, I don’t think there is a problem. I think people are wondering on their desire to change jobs. Either to change their quality of life, or because they are looking for a less stressful job or less difficult working conditions. And then also, quite simply to obtain a better, higher remuneration. This is also one of the important factors.
What are the most popular sectors in the region and which are the most deserted?
It is very difficult to say, there is no very precise analysis on the subject. What is certain is that on this forum, we will see companies of the Airbus and Engie type, but also representatives of professional branches such as the catering trades, the automotive trades, the building trades; just to show what are the sectors of activity that are recruiting and what jobs people can thrive in.
A professional retraining, it takes preparation. Are you saying it doesn’t happen overnight?
I think that’you have to ask yourself the right questions : why do I want to convert? Ask yourself the question of the sectors where you want to work. And especially the professions that recruit, and more particularly the professions that recruit on its territory. This forum serves exactly that: you will have all the professionals who will answer all the questions that employees must ask themselves before imagining a professional retraining.
There is no age to start a professional retraining?
Oh no, not at all. We can even imagine young people who have completed a professional baccalaureate and who decide to go back to a CAP: it is a form of retraining. And then after, at 30, 40 or 50, you can always imagine changing jobs. I’ll give you the example of my cheese maker: he’s just over 50 years old, he worked at Aéroports de Paris, it’s a total life change. He went from the marketing department of a large company to selling cheese in my village… and obviously he is extremely happy!
