AŽD Praha won the first railway security contract in Hungary
It will cooperate with the company R-KORD on the development, production and installation of railway security equipment in Hungary.
The company AŽD Praha has the first contract in Hungary. In association with the company R-KORD (part of the Hungarian holding V-Híd), the line from Szeged in the south of the country to the border with Serbia will be equipped with ETCS. The Czech company announced this in a press release today.
As part of the modernization of the security equipment, AŽD will install fully electronic station security equipment ESA 44 in Hungary, which will control traffic in two railway stations (Szeged-Rendező and Röszke). The delivery also includes an integrated track security device, the delivery of LED signaling lamps, level crossings, as well as the delivery and installation of the stationary part of the ETCS L1 system in a total value of 5.7 million euros.

For us, this first major project in Hungary is the culmination of a tremendous effort and great support to demonstrate the quality of Czech systems and the professionalism of AŽD.” said Zdeněk Chrdle, CEO of AŽD, after signing the contract.
The two companies will cooperate on the development, production and installation of railway security equipment in Hungary. The cooperation will include the application of Czech know-how and tools in the production of final equipment in Hungary, as well as the development of software specially adapted to Hungarian needs.
