Arakhamia explains how Ukraine wants to get weapons
Arms manufacturers were not ready for mass orders, so the supply of certain types for our country may take a long time. To resolve the process, the Ukrainian side proposes to go by the so-called “swaps” – exchanges.
This was reported by the head of the Ukrainian delegation in the USA, the head of the “Servant of the People” parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia.
“Any purchase is a minimum of six months, and a maximum of one and a half to two years. We are not interested in the results, so we are currently working at the levels of the US Parliament to make so-called “swaps” – exchanges: we take ready-made weapons, even if they were already in use. It is already available, we take it together with the army, and then the army produces new samples when the manufacturers have the opportunity to deliver,” the politician explained.
He added that it was a win-win situation for both sides, the last US Army to produce a new weapon, and we would once again have a sample certificate.
thus, according to David Arahamia, the negotiations regarding the HIMARS, the transfer of which was announced the day before, are going “with a creak”. Ukraine wants to receive the promised installations right now under this exchange scheme.
The People’s Deputy also noted that political decisions regarding the transfer of the latest tanks and aircraft to Ukraine have not yet been made, but the Ukrainian side is doing everything to soften this position. In order to be ready for the transfer of appropriate weapons, Kyiv is already being asked to use part of the funds from the training aid program.
“Everything is being done so that when political decisions are finally made, we do not lose time. And we are sure that such a decision will be made. It will take from 3 to 8 months to train our pilots and tankers. That is why we want the training to start already, and then the weapons themselves will arrive,” the parliamentarian said.
In my opinion, in this way Ukraine will win his time, which is finally necessary for superiority at the front.
Now, yesterday the USA announced a new military aid package for Ukraine – in the amount of 1.1 billion dollars. within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). But it is enough to wait one or two years for this aid to Ukraine.
According to the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, Anki Feldhusen, Ukraine produces the IRIS-T air defense system, which is not in service with the German army. Probably, one system will arrive already in October, the second – before the end of the year.
