Bernard Blanc démissionne de son mandat d’adjoint à l’urbanisme résilient
Negotiations are underway in the offices of the Palais Rohan, in Bordeaux, to form the team that will support the mayor for the remaining two-thirds of the mandate which runs until the spring of 2026. Pierre Hurmic will have to find a clever balance between the experiences and claims of each, political balances and parity between women and men. A reshuffle forced by the blow of departure on blow of two figures of the majority. Véronique Seyral, the deputy mayor in charge of the city’s political priority districts, left her post for personal reasons on September 1. Two weeks later, it was the turn of Bernard Blanc, the resilient urban planning assistant, to deposit his letter of resignation on the mayor’s desk on the day of the back-to-school press conference, at which he did not moreover not participated. He then confirmed his desire to retire from political life before the Bordeaux promoters gathered on September 23 at the Bordeaux New Housing Fair.
The frugal building in Bordeaux
Former director general of the social landlord Aquitanis, Bernard Blanc celebrated his 68th birthday this year and has never hidden his intention to gradually take a step back from his political mandate resumed in 2020 in a somewhat unexpected way. In 2021, he left the presidency of Bordeaux Métropole Aménagement, against a background of incompatibility with his municipal functions, then he resigned in the spring of 2022 from his functions as vice-president of Bordeaux Métropole in charge of urban planning.
Known for his outspokenness and his good knowledge of both local housing issues and actors, he therefore bows out after having been talked about at the start of his mandate with the “moratorium” or “inventory” decided on the construction new then by pushing the greening of the huge ZAC Bastide Niel on the right bank.
He then carried and then gave birth to the project that gave him the most at heart: the Bordeaux frugal building label and its 42 criteria. An urban planning charter not yet legally binding but intended to become one of the political markers of Pierre Hurmic’s municipal action despite its complex application and the reservations formulated at the metropolitan level.
Among the promoters, who had learned to work with a professional from social housing, we salute his “open-mindedness”:
“It’s a shame because he was a great real estate professional who had convictions and who shared them. I just hope that the town hall will continue with the same open-mindedness. We are living in a difficult situation which obliges us to find solutions and therefore to sit down at the table to discuss. The dialogue must not be cut off. I would point out all the same that we have excellent relations at the town hall with Stéphane Pfeiffer’s team [l’adjoint en charge notamment du logement]“, reacts Pierre Vital, the president of the Federation of real estate developers of New Aquitaine.
For its part, the town hall does not wish to comment on this new start in the municipal team and allows itself a few more days before formalizing the exact contours of the reshuffle. The new configuration will be presented to elected officials at the next city council on Tuesday, October 4.
