Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln takes home-grown Tim Lemperle out of the strain. The striker recently left the German U20 national team early due to ankle problems. The problem has existed for a while, as Steffen Baumgart then revealed.
“He’s been carrying it around for a long time,” said Cologne’s coach on Monday, “and now he’s bleeding.” It remains to be seen how long the break will last for Lemperle. Baumgart is also unable to predict when his player will be ready for the squad again.
In the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.), said the club-affiliated goat blogbut that is probably not the case.

It also remains to be seen whether Lemperle’s place in the squad might go to Mark Uth. Baumgart does not plan the attacker, who has been absent for almost two months, at first. Uth needs to be fully operational before a place in the squad can be considered.
Uth completed his first full team training session at the beginning of the week, so there is certainly still a lot of catching up to do physically. It remains to be seen how quickly he can make up for that.
