Toulouse. A new bicycle parking lot in Marengo
A new secure bike park equipped with electric charging stations will be put into service in the Marengo district in Toulouse.
During his back-to-school press conference in mid-September, the president of Toulouse Métropole Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR) said he wanted to “go further” in the development of cycling. Wednesday, September 28, it inaugurates secure bicycle parking and a free charging station scooters and electric bicycles, near the José Cabanis media library in the Marengo district of Toulouse.
” Composed of 24 bicycle spaces in a collective box and three individual lockers for cargo bikes, parking is secured with a digicode and offered at the rate of four euros per month. The charging stations – eight for scooters and six for bicycles – are free”, explains Toulouse metropolis in a press release.
Toulouse, pilot city of this system in favor of cycling
This device is offered for six months, as part of an experiment that is leading the Toulouse metropolitan area with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. The Pink City will be one of the first pilot cities.
“We want more than ever facilitate the use of bicycles throughout the metropolitan territory with a double objective: to secure use for cyclists, but also to guarantee the safety of pedestrians”, supported the president of Toulouse Métropole during his press conference. For him, the latter should not be the “losers of the cycling policy”.
