Graz99ers are now challenged in Salzburg – Moser Medical Graz99ers – Pure Icehockey Graz
The Moser Medical Graz99ers will be challenged again tomorrow, Sunday. The Grazers meet EC Red Bull Salzburg away. The Mozart townspeople have not lost any points so far.
Actually played a strong first 20 minutes, but in the end it didn’t reward itself. Finally, the 99ers conceded easy goals yesterday and were once again in the penalty box too often. The 1:6 against the Innsbrucker Haie was too high in the end, but head coach Johan Pennerborn’s team suffered a deserved defeat.
A current problem: As soon as Graz falls behind, the structure and focus is lost a bit. At this point, among other things, the coaches want to step in and continue to work hard with the team in the coming days and weeks. From today’s point of view, not much has happened yet, the Grazers are in 8th place with 3 and they are tied with the fourth-placed team.
EC Red Bull Salzburg won the first three games. Only yesterday there was a 5:3 away win at league newcomer Asiago, whereby the Italians were even 3:2 in the lead in the final section. The Bulls’ strengths are well known, the majority of last year’s squad was kept together. With Chay Genoway and Andrew MacWilliam, two strong defenders were brought in, but TJ Brennan left the Mozartstadt team. In attack, the team of head coach Matt McIlvane has an enormous density. Among others, Peter Schneider, Thomas Raffl, Ty Loney, Ali Wukovits and Benjamin Nissner are in the squad.
The 99ers are looking ahead again, so they want to show a reaction to yesterday’s defeat tomorrow. Most recently in Linz, that probably succeeded. “We will prepare as well as we can for this encounter against Salzburg. Analyze the game against Innsbruck and do some ice training. Then it’s straight to Salzburg tomorrow,” says head coach Pennerborn. The team will board the team bus at 08:30 and start the journey to Salzburg.
