Prague Waterworks and Sewerage has prepared an open day for fans of waterworks history at the Prague Waterworks Museum in the Podolská waterworks. It will take place on Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For example, a part of the castle water supply from the time of Rudolf II will be on display. or a model of a pumping system from the hands of the Czech inventor Josef Božek.
“We have amazing exhibits there, from ancient pipes to historical things from the 18th / 19th centuries. We have prepared an interactive board for children, where they can learn about the water cycle,” said Tomáš Mrázek, press spokesman for PVK.
The history of the Museum of Prague Waterworks dates back to 1952, when the first visitors headed to the basement of the then headquarters of Prague Waterworks on Národní třída. It moved to the grounds of the water plant in Podolí in 1996. A year later, the exposition with an exhibition area of 800 m2 with depositories and lecture hall inaugurated. As part of the open day, several viewing times are prepared for visitors.
“We have 8 tours ready, the first one starts at 9 am, the last one at 5 pm. Reservations are required for this event on our website pvk.cz. The capacity is limited, a maximum of 40 people will be able to go on one tour,” said Tomáš Mrázek , press spokesman of PVK.
Registrations are open from Monday, September 26, and entry to the event is traditionally free.
