It is an office and retail project that threatens the only cinema of the Marais district. A online petition was created Thursday, September 22, 2022 against the wishes deportation owners of the premises who weigh on the Luminorcentury-old establishment, located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.
“Cultural Vandalism”
The cinema is therefore threatened deportation by the real estate holding company that owns the premises, with the aim of carrying out a real estate transaction involving offices and shops. “Despite all our conciliation proposals and the perfect respect of our obligations as tenants, the owners have carried out their threat in court,” the cinema said in a press release.
The cinema, which opened in 1912 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is therefore in the hot seat and calls for mobilization facing the outfit threatening to end the Luminor’s lease.
In a few hours, the online petition to result close to 3,000 signatories. “We ask you to mobilize and act with us so that the Luminor continues to exist and fulfill its mission as the only and last cinema in the Marais”, details the cultural institution.
