Slovakia strongly condemns Russia’s intentions: Rastislav Káčer emphasized the need for EU and NATO unity
On Wednesday (September 21), the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Káčer, emphasized the need for unity among EU and NATO members. TASR informed about this the European press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Affairs (MZVEZ) of the Slovak Republic.
“I appreciate the quick decision to convene an extraordinary meeting of the heads of diplomacy of the EU countries shortly after the Russian aggressor decided to escalate against our immediate neighbor,” said Káčer. EU countries must be prepared for Russia to step up its steps further, and they must “loudly and unequivocally condemned the decision to incorporate occupied Ukrainian territories into Russia”.
“Such a procedure is also against Slovakia’s interest, since the change of borders orchestrated with weapons and based on the ethnic principle goes against all the rules of international law,” said the head of Slovak diplomacy. MZVEZ writes that the situation in Ukraine also needs to be paid attention to, as it has an impact on other important areas, including food safety.
“The Russian Federation is solely responsible for this because of its aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law and the UN Charter. It is not the EU and its sanctions, which are not aimed at world food trade, but the result of clear military aggression,” Káčer said. The interest of the Slovak Republic is to “keep Ukraine at the center of the UN agenda” and to continue the dialogue with partners, including the countries of the African continent.
