Vintage in Prague’s Grébovce, which is being organized by Prague 2 for the fifteenth time, will offer 81 stalls with, among other things, wine, burčák and refreshments. Concerts or talks with winemakers will be part of the two-day harvest celebrations. A special program is prepared for children. Wine lovers can go to Grébovka for their favorite drink on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24.
For the found token, you will get a pair of burčák for free
“This year we are following up on old traditions and coming up with something new again. In advance, we scattered dozens of wooden tokens around Grébovce. Anyone who finds a token and hands it in on Saturday, September 24 at the stand of our district, will receive a pair of burčák for free.” said the mayor of the second city district Alexander Uzheniya (ODS).
Visitors to the 15th year of the event can look forward to an offer of burčák and wine from all over the country, including wine from the Grébovka vineyard in Havlíčkové sady. The vintage will start on Friday at 2 pm on Náměstí Míru, on Saturday the program will be moved to Havlíčkový sady. Free entry. Those interested can come to an artificial cave on Saturday to taste grape drinks, a cave where a traditional wine town will be created. Winemakers will pour wine and burčák at 37 stands. Gastronomic specialties from different corners of the world and refreshments for people with a lactose-free or gluten-free diet will also be on offer. There is also a display of handicrafts and an exhibition of carved wooden paintings.
On Friday, dulcimer music and the indie rock band The Valentines will provide cultural entertainment. On Saturday, the cultural program will open with a performance by the pop rock band Eddie Stoilow at 1 p.m. In the early evening, people can look forward to a concert by the band Děda Mládek Illegal Band and singer Petr Rezka, who will christen his new record at the vintage. Creative workshops and face painting will be prepared for children in the lower part of the park. The entire program is on website events.
Up to thirty thousand people visit the vintage every year
Eight varieties of wine are grown on the vineyard in Havlíčkové sady, and nine to ten thousand liters of wine are pressed from the grapes there each year. Up to 30,000 people visit the grape harvest in Grébovce every year.
In the year, the traditional event in Prague 2 took place due to the coronavirus epidemic in a dangerous form as wine markets. On the first day of the event, the wine stands were on Náměstí Míru, on the second day they were moved to Havlíčkové Sady. In 2020, due to the covid-19 epidemic, the grape harvest did not take place in Grébovce.
There are several vintages in Prague every year during September. At the beginning of the month, a wine festival was held at Prague Castle and last week at the Prague Botanical Garden in Troja, where they offered, among other things, a drink from the vineyard of St. Klara. On Saturday, September 24, the grape harvest is going to take place at the St. Wenceslaus vineyard in the grounds of the Prague Castle. It is the oldest Czech vineyard, whose history dates back to the 10th century.
