donate blood, build a flood wall, test heavy equipment – and most of all, have fun! – WN24.cz – World news 24
Prague, September 21, 2022 (PROTEXT) – As every year, I will present the components of the integrated rescue system and my daily work to the general public at the Heroes’ Day event at the Prague Exhibition Center. In the coming year, we will remember the floods of 2002, not only through interactive demonstrations of the construction of flood barriers, but also through a traveling thematic exhibition. All the main components of the IZS will then present their work in practice.
Over 100 vehicles and other techniques, XXVIII. year of the memorial JUDr. František Kohout in rescuing people from crashed vehicles, over twenty competitive teams from the ranks of professional and company firefighters from all over the Czech Republic, among others the special vehicle of the Prague Medical Rescue Service Golem, the Fénix and the Polaris all-terrain quad bike, roping of rescue dogs, police horses in a smoke clone or the possibility donate blood at the mobile collection station of the Central Military Hospital, all this and other programs await visitors on September 24, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the park area and on Brussels Road at the Exhibition Center. From 6:45 p.m., the program will continue at the tram turnstile at the Planetarium with practical demonstrations of the Transport Company hl. m Prague in recovering a derailed tram. The event is open to all ages and admission is free.
20 years since the flood
As part of the twenty-year anniversary of the 2002 flood, a special exhibition of the Museum of the Capital City of Prague commemorating a century of water will travel to the Exhibition Center from Kampa, and a symbolic flood wall will be built with the participation of the general public. Visitors will see where the water reached during the floods at the Exhibition Center and can also look forward to an exhibit from the Fire Protection Exposition in Zbiroh. The HZS and SDH units will then demonstrate how to defend against heavy water.
“This year’s Heroes’ Day will be somewhat special thanks to the sad anniversary of the 20th anniversary of the floods that affected not only Prague. That is why we devoted part of the program to this event with many practical examples of flood prevention measures presented by rescue services. But we will also involve visitors in the event, when five hundred bags will be prepared not only for children to fill with sand and build a flood wall of various widths and heights. Of course, we will pay tribute to all the components of the integrated rescue system. The event will be packed with interactive fun for the family and I, as is traditionally the case for the whole family, believe that, especially from a number of fathers, they will become boys again for a while and fulfill their childhood dreams of being a rescuer and try out heavy equipment.” says Tomáš Hübl, chairman of the board of Výstaviště Praha a.s. and founder of Heroes’ Day.
Speleology, rescue dog training and the latest Polaris rescue four-wheeler
The rich program will delight both young and old visitors, when all important rescue services will be presented through dynamic and practical demonstrations. As part of practical demonstrations, the Medical Rescue Service of the capital will demonstrate their work. m of Prague, Fire and rescue corps hl. m of Prague, City Police Hl. m of Prague, Police of the Czech Republic, Army of the Czech Republic, Military Police, HZS Václav Havel Airport, HZS Transport Enterprise hl. m of Prague, Administration of services hl. m of Prague, Speleological Rescue Station, Canine Brigade, Prison Service of the Czech Republic, Main Mining Rescue Station Prague and Water Rescue Service.

Visitors will be able to view both our standard paramedic and doctor ambulances, as well as the Golem emergency module, the special Fénix vehicle and the latest addition to our special vehicles – the Polaris all-terrain ATV. We will also familiarize interested parties with the work of emergency dispatchers, and we will be able to brush up on the basics of providing first aid, including indirect cardiac massage, on training mannequins.” says Petr Kolouch, director of the Medical Rescue Service m of Prague.
There will also be special demonstrations of technology such as the PČR helicopter, the SSHMP rescue tank, the Panter airport special, the GOLEM rescue special or the Tatra PRAM with mortar. Dynamic demonstrations will then offer the rescue of people from crashed vehicles, a demonstration of the training of horses of the Municipal Police Hl. m of Prague, a demonstration of the training of rescue dogs, demonstrations of abseiling and rescue with the help of speleologists, as well as the rescue of a derailed tram (final demonstration at 6.45 p.m. at the final tram roundabout near the Planetarium).
Donate blood
As part of Heroes’ Day, they will have the opportunity to donate blood at the mobile collection center of the Central Military Hospital as part of the IZS challenges called: “Our blood runs through your veins too”. The goal of the project is to spread awareness among the public and the members of the IZS about contribution-free blood donation and thereby help transfusion stations in Prague to find more new regular donations. Currently, the Czech Republic lacks approximately 100,000 blood donors and the number of voluntary donors is still decreasing.
XXVIII. Memorial JUDr. František Kohouta
Professional teams from all over the country will compete as part of the JUDr. Memorial. František Kohout in rescuing people from crashed vehicles. “The upcoming year of the Memorial JUDr. František Kohouta’s extrication in traffic accidents is unique in its scope. Little hero passport
