Paris fireworks will close this year’s Saint James International Organ Festival
The final concert of the 27th International Festival in the Basilica of St. Jakub in Prague’s Old Town will belong to David Cassana. The young French organist is one of the world’s biggest stars of organ art – both interpretation and improvisation. The program called Paris Fireworks will be presented to the festival audience on Thursday, September 22, from 7 p.m.
“David Cassan is one of the most sought-after artists, so we are very happy that he found a place in his busy concert schedule for a Prague performance”, said the festival director Irena Chřibková.
Of course, the program will be in the French spirit with romantic music César Franck, with a virtuoso Marcel Duprém and colorful Maurice Duruflé. An extraordinary experience will be the presentation of Firebird by Igor Stravinsky. The concert and the entire festival will end with the artist’s improvisation on a theme from the audience. This discipline is a manifestation of spontaneous playing without notes, and it is able to impress with its unique approach.
He performs as a soloist David Cassan in concert halls and cathedrals, at numerous festivals in France, in European countries, China, Israel, Iceland, and in South America. He collaborates with a number of important symphonic and chamber ensembles and ensembles. He is engaged in pedagogic and lecturing activities and regularly sits as a judge in international competitions. He is the titular organist of the Protestant Church of the Oratory of the Louvre in Paris.
“Our festival in the center of Prague is also attracted by the very genius of the location of the basilica. People leave with a strong spiritual experience,” she concluded Irena Chřibková.
It takes place during every concert video projectionthanks to which the audience can watch the organist playing on the screen.
