Last Friday, the employees of the financial control for undeclared work at the main customs office in Hanover checked employment relationships in the construction industry.
During a non-suspicion audit last Friday, September 16, officials from the financial control of undeclared work questioned almost 50 employees about their employment relationship. Starting with eight different employers, they had to answer questions on site about the duration of their employment, their remuneration and their working hours.
This background of personal surveys is, among other things, the examination of whether the social security obligations are fulfilled, no unlawful receipt of social benefits such as unemployment benefits I and II is made or sufficient minimum wage IS granted.
“The experienced officials had their first suspicions on site,” said Joline Kassner, spokeswoman for the main customs office in Hanover.
Altogether there is a suspicion of the withholding and embezzlement of wages in 15 cases and a violation of the obligation to report immediately in seven cases.
“If there is a suspicion of the withholding and embezzlement of wages, this means that an employer may not have paid any or too little social security contributions for its employees. If the suspicion is confirmed, it is a question of a crime,” Kassner continued.
The test will now be followed by further tests and investigations.
