People from the Western Balkans, Israel and Britain will also come to the European summit in Prague, says Bek | iRADIO
The representatives of Israel, Great Britain or the countries of the Western Balkans should also receive an invitation to the October summit of European leaders at Prague Castle. Minister for European Affairs Mikuláš Bek (for STAN) said this in the Czech Radio Brussels Breads podcast. Thus, under the Czech presidency, the European Political Community will meet for the first time in Prague – a new single format in which representatives of the European Union and other states will meet.

Government representatives together with the office of the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, are currently finalizing the list of participants for the October summit. According to Bek, it is now largely clear.
How will the Czechia withstand the EU Man, don’t be angry? We have to partially abandon unanimity voting, says Bek.

“The Western Balkans will certainly come, the Eastern Partnership will certainly come, in addition to Ukraine, also Georgia, Armenia. And Israel will also be there,” said Bek. Israel will probably be the only country outside the European continent at the summit.
“For example, Israel participates in some European programs, so it is a country that closely cooperates with the European Union. And we can also debate where Europe really ends and Asia begins. I think it is important that these are countries that belong to the geographical area that has its center of gravity in the European Union,” explained Bek.
The biggest question mark hung over the possible participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. According to Bek, he will probably get an invitation eventually.

“Turkey is diplomatically delicate to some extent. There are tensions with some member countries such as Cyprus or Greece. But I think we have reached some kind of preliminary agreement that it could be done,” said Bek.
The summit of the leaders of the European Union will be held in Prague on Friday, October 7. But the extended European political community will meet at Prague Castle a day earlier. French President Emanuel Macron came up with the idea for its creation.
According to Bek, the community should go regularly in the future. “This is actually a completely new initiative that should serve political dialogue at the highest level. The expectation is that such meetings will continue with some regularity, which the leaders of the countries will discuss,” said Bek.
