Children’s Book World Pilsen 2022
Already on Friday, September 23 at 8.45 a.m. the festival will start in the West Bohemian metropolis World of books for children Pilsen. The program, which will run all Friday until 7 p.m., will offer author readings, discussions, workshops, presentations, theater performances and competitions.
The literary festival fills four program halls the DEPO2015 area. The aim of the all-day program full of programs for children and youth is to support the interest of the young generation in reading and in literature as such. And this is similar to what happens in the framework of the year-long campaign Growing up with a book, which is organized by Svět knihy. Pupils of both grades of elementary schools are invited, and the program is also prepared for high school students. In the afternoon, mainly parents with children are invited to the programs. Books will also be available for purchase for selected programs.
“We have prepared this year’s one-day event especially for children and youth. We want to differentiate learning about the book and literary world for the youngest generation,” its director Radovan Auer explains the reason for the focus of the festival.
Authors include, for example, Petra Hůlová, Daniela Krolupperová, Petr Stančík, Galina Miklínová, Marka Míková, Ivana Peroutková, Tereza Marianová and many others.
There will be a meeting with by Taiwanese writer and poet Enkaryon Ang, who introduces the audience to the literature and other interesting things of his country. Foreigners will also be represented by literature written in Portuguese or an exhibition of illustrations of Polish children’s books in Czech translations, which is connected with the competition.
Young people will learn about the popular Humbook, the book publishing process, news in science fiction and fantasy, and the activities of the Museum of Records and Curiosities. Authors Jana Poncarová and Markéta Lukášková will talk about historical events in a popular way. There are programs with poetry, music and also games (workshops) to recognize fake news.
Parents get information, what are the best books for childrenand whether they will learn the history of comics for children. Children can visit a theater performance by Marko Toman with the Čuček troupe or a literary dramatization performed by Michaela Fišarová accompanied by actor Miroslav Reil. Children can also make a submarine with Galina Miklínová and Petr Stančík and build a house for mice.
They teach with interesting fun literary trail prepared for visitors by the National Library of the Czech Republic. The comic publishing house CREW has prepared a special event for Pilsen. Throughout the day, all visitors will be able to spin the Komiksov wheel of fortune, where everyone wins valuable comics.
In addition to the Svět kný company, programs within the festival are also organized by our leading publishers focused on children and youth, such as Albatros Media, Baobab and Meander.
