Slavia was missing Tomáš Holeš or Ivan Schranz, who suffered a serious head and cervical spine injury in Thursday’s match due to health reasons. On the contrary, two players who were missing from Prague in the last matches returned – Petr Ševčík and Explze stopper Eduardo Santos.
And it is the Brazilian who will not remember his return to the Štrunc orchards fondly. In the 2nd minute, after his own mistake, he raised his hand to the escaping Jhon Mosquera, and the referee was clear – a penalty and a red card.
Tomáš Chorý underlined the start from the realm of dreams for home Viktoria, as he confidently converted the penalty kick with a shot into the middle.
The second goal after the forced break
After a quarter of an hour, the match was disrupted by smoke from pyrotechnics from both fan camps, the referee interrupted the match and coaches Jindřich Trpišovský and Michal Bílek had time to speak to their wards. The owner of the club, Adolf Šádek, even went to negotiate with the Pilsen boiler.
The four-minute break benefited the home team and they increased the score in the 21st minute. Poor defending of the corner kick by the Praguers resulted in Mosquera finishing from close range – 2:0.
With ten men, Slavia can’t keep up with Viktoria, and its hopes for a point gain practically vanished after the unexpected first third of the match. Nevertheless, Peter Olayinka had a 100% chance, but Staněk caught him from close range. Although Pomezní raised his flag, according to replays, it was not an offside.
Before the break, Viktoria pulled away with one more chance, Václav Pilař closed the cross at the back post and Aleš Mandous had to intervene.
The work was completed by Kalvach
After successfully entering the first half, Pilsen could experience a similar one in the second. The goal was scored by Vlkanová immediately after the change of sides, but the video referee canceled it because Choré was offside. On the other side, David Jurásek finished after a good move, but goalkeeper Jindřich Staněk had no problem.
The tempo of the match dropped. Slavia tried to do something with the result, but had to be careful with ten players. In principle, Plzeň did not rush to increase the score. Nevertheless, he got what he wanted – Lukáš Kalvach was charged behind the goal and beat Mandouse for the third time with a perfectly placed shot.
Viktoria managed to defeat Slavia after three and a half long years, and also confirmed its league invincibility this year. He is now three points ahead of his competitor at the top of the league table, and he has a match against Olomouc to spare.
