Ukraine gained a strategic initiative at a new stage of the war
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley, considers Russia’s unpredictable reaction to the failures it continues to experience on the battlefield in Ukraine.
In this regard, he called on the American military to be more vigilant, reports Ukrinform with reference to Voice of America.
“The war is not going too well for Russia now. Therefore, we are all obliged to maintain a high level of readiness,” Milli said during a visit to a military base in Poland.
According to his estimates, the American troops in Europe have not assessed themselves before the increased threat, but they need to be in a state of readiness.
“During war, you simply don’t know with a high degree of certainty what will happen next,” the general stated.
Milli did not speculate on what the next steps might be, but noted that the war is at a new stage in which Ukraine has taken the strategic initiative.
“In this regard, it is very important for us to monitor Russia’s reaction,” he summarized.
As it happened, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Sasha Baker said that the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the south was showing “encouraging signs.”
According to him, Ukrainians demonstrate “creativity” by combining in their actions the weapons provided by their countries. “However, the Russians are a formidable opponent and a long struggle lies ahead,” – instead of the US Deputy Secretary of Defense.
