Heritage Days: The SNCF was overtaken, on the Dijon Nevers line, by the success of the 5 euro tickets
45 minutes late from Dijon for a lack of places in the TER… There was groge, Saturday evening at Dijon station…
This should probably be seen as much negligence as a lack of anticipation. Saturday evening the people who had been directed to platform 37 for the TER providing the link between Dijon and Nevers, on the evening of the first day of Heritage Days, experienced difficult times. The TER was quickly full with too many people who could not take place on board.
It was therefore necessary to ask the people already in place in the TER to get off and change platforms… Passengers were invited to go to platform J, that is to say on the opposite side, to be able to access to a longer train, which made it possible to take everyone, even if not everyone was seated.
We suspect that this led to tensions, for remaining nice… There was grumbling, cries and even discomfort on a platform… In the TER left in the direction of Nuits, Beaune, Chagny, Montchanin, Le Creusot, Etang sur Arroux, Luzy and Nevers, the controller, despite herself, had a bad time, suffering reproaches that were not personally translated to her, but that she was obliged to collect. The poor had tears in her eyes because the insulting, unacceptable remarks are difficult to hear.
This situation could, however, have been interrupted with a little more anticipation. Since a longer train was called to the rescue, why hadn’t it been mobilized before? In fact the SNCF and its trains, like this Dijon – Nevers, were taken by storm because the tickets at 5 euros for the round trip, led to a real rush.
It is clear that for a family from Nevers, could make the round trip with Dijon for 20 euros, when normally it charges more than 200 euros, we understand that this invites you to travel by train. Besides, on Saturday evening it was easy to notice that many had traveled towards Dijon not to exclusively take advantage of the heritage days, but also to do some shopping.
This situation thus created deserves to be better anticipated by adding at least one train. But we can also notice that when the tickets are not expensive, users are less hesitant to take the train as a family. CQFD. The SNCF, like the Regional Council of Burgundy – Franche-Comté, would be well advised to take it into consideration. With why not, one Saturday per month at 5 euros. Chiche?
