As part of the European Mobility Week, plans for the development of railways in and around Prague will be presented
As part of the European Mobility Week and in cooperation with Hl. m of Prague, Railway Administration, Institute of Planning and Development m of Prague and the ROPID organization will inform the public about the development plans of the railway in Prague and the surrounding area at individual locations in Prague from September 20 to 22, 2022.
Projects being prepared for the near future (the new Smíchov multimodal terminal, the new look of Masaryk railway station, the modernization of the railway line to Kladno and the new line to Václav Havel Airport) will be presented, as well as the long-term vision of a full-fledged Prague S-Bahn, i.e. a system of city and suburban trains in short intervals connected to each other by a new tunnel under the center of Prague. The program will also include a presentation of the benefits of the new high-speed lines and their connection to the Prague railway junction.
Every afternoon, guided tours of the presentation panels will be organized at individual locations. At Masaryk station, they can also expect a virtual tour of the new Masaryk.
The three-day series of events will conclude on Thursday, September 22, with a discussion evening at the Prague Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP) and a subsequent ten-day exhibition of all projects at the National Museum.

Where: Prague-Smíchov train station check-in hall area
What: Presentation of the new form of the Smíchov multimodal terminal, transformation of the train station itself, new construction of the bus station and transformation of public transport stops in front of the station.
Wednesday 21 September 10:00 – 18:00 Nová Masaryčka and by train at the airport
Where: Area of the check-in hall of Masaryk station
What: Presentation of the new form of Masaryk station and its new platforms, a demonstration of the connection of the new part with the historic building, the roofing of the platforms and the new promenade above the station, including the connection of the Florence area with Opletalová Street. Presentation of the project of a new train connection to Václav Havel Airport, visualization of new stations, routes, line management and intervals. The project of modernization of the railway line in Kladno. Virtual tour of the new Masarycka, video presentation in Masaryk’s lounge.
Thursday 22 September 10:00 – 18:00 Metro S – a new tunnel for trains under the center of Prague
Where: Entrance to Karlovo náměstí metro station (on the corner of the park by the Eliška Krásnohorská statue)
What: Presentation of plans for a completely new tunnel under the center of Prague for suburban trains, variants of new underground stations and S lines through Prague, demonstration of the physical form of the possible future form of the entrance to the S metro station. Project of high-speed lines – how they will connect to Prague, how to help high-speed lines for the significant acceleration of Prague with the rest of the Czech Republic, construction of temporary parking lots at new high-speed railway stations in the vicinity of Prague.
Thursday 22 September 19:00 – 21:00 discussion evening at CAMP
Topic: Metro S – a new tunnel for trains under the center of Prague and a high-speed train from Prague to the whole country in a few minutes
Presentation on the topic of a new tunnel connection under the center of Prague for suburban trains and the project of high-speed lines and their bringing to Prague. Examples of good practice from abroad, presentation of a study comprehensively solving the railway capacity in Prague and presentation of the benefits of high-speed lines for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. Subsequent debate with experts from the Railway Administration, Institute of Planning and Development m of Prague and from the academic sphere.
Exhibition Train to the Future Station 22 September – 2 October
Where: Space between the buildings of the National Museum above Wenceslas Square
What: A comprehensive exhibition of plans for the development of the Prague railway in the near and distant future. Transformation of the largest Prague railway stations, new routes for speeding up and densifying suburban trains as well as for bringing high-speed trains to Prague or for connecting the center of Prague with the Ruzyne airport.
