Alien locations on planet earth to how to get to space and beyond. And this year, the space festival “Hello Cosmos! Speak Bulgaria” brought science closer to students.
“In this station, a full simulation is done, with shifts on the order of 8 months – full simulation of life, isolation. When you get out, you go out in special gear one-on-one as life on such a station would look like. The only thing that cannot be done to one is the gravitational pressure, but everything else in terms of technique and living conditions approaches and most importantly takes a form that is on the slopes of the volcano. It looks a lot like the Martian landscape.”
Professor Hristo Pimpirev – the Bulgarian scientist and polar explorer – recalls that Antarctica is the closest place on Earth to space.
“Here is achieved the greatest isolation of human society, which must live for several months before reaching the Red Planet. The temperatures are extremely close to those of Mars. We are all looking forward to the flight of the Artemis rocket – NASA’s eyes turn to the moon, because placing a space station on the moon will facilitate interplanetary flights. Where we don’t have an atmosphere, you’ll be able to get spacecraft to Mars, Venus much easier. The location of this space station on the South Pole of the Moon in the vicinity of the Shackleton Crater, even suggesting that there could also be ice there, which is one of the most important components for such a base to function – this is the water”.
“To be a cosmonaut, education is important, but being a person comes first,” says Tatiana Ivanova. The girl has been striving to become the first Bulgarian female cosmonaut for years.
“Let’s change the thinking of our shit, let’s be one step closer to this Bulgaria becoming a full member of the European Space Agency, which will help Bulgarian students to work in high-ranking and well-paid positions.”
Astronaut Anna Fischer answered a series of questions from Bulgarian children. Can asteroid water be used by humans because biological experiments are important in space as we know when it is night and when it is day are there diseases that cannot be treated on Earth but can be affected in space . Anna Fischer answered – that before we go to Mars, we need to find out how people react to radiation and how they should be protected from it. According to her, people with the best skills should go to space.
“I am convinced that we will reach Mars and build the base there. And the quality of people is not divided into male and female. It is important that those who wish to become astronauts are sure of their wishes. Military pilot training is one of the most suitable for astronauts. It gives leadership skills. But another option is to be an astronaut scientist on missions, which requires young people to pursue an academic career in your natural sciences or engineering. It doesn’t matter which science you come from, but it is important to be very good because the competition in the selection procedure is very high. Young people should also learn languages - Russian, Chinese. The last option to fly into space is to become an entrepreneur and build your own shuttle and take off. Before, I myself would never have believed that this would be possible.”
