HAZ Hannover update: Hannover swims free
Good morning, dear readers,
the weather has suddenly turned quite autumnal and the bathing season in most of Hanover’s outdoor pools is over. But what actually happens to the thousands upon thousands of liters of water that are still in the large basins? Water has become precious in the drought months of this summer, and so a Hessian outdoor pool gave away 800,000 liters of water last week. Not only farmers drove up in large vehicles and had their tanks filled. We once asked the city of Hanover what they were planning to do with the water.
The answer: The local outdoor pools remain full throughout the winter, because the water inside the pool is also valuable. Among other things, it protects the tiles from frost during the cold months.
The swimmers are now also doing their laps in the indoor pools – and an important point in the bathing regulations will soon change. In the future, topless bathing will be possible in all municipal pools. This decision is a good step towards more equality, comments HAZ editor-in-chief Dany Schrader. “Yes, the almost tiresome debate about gender equality will keep us busy for a while. It is good to lead them. For critics as well as supporters. It means that society does not stand still, but can develop,” says Schrader.
I wish you a good, relaxing Sunday. Perhaps you would also like to drop by the E-Days in the Madsack Media Group’s old printing works in Bemerode. At the trade fair on the topic of electromobility, exhibitors present numerous models of electric cars and bicycles, and test drives are also possible. We look forward to you.
Sincerely yours

Comment: Farewell to the bikini top – Hanover swims freely
Who is dressed like in the swimming pool is a subject of controversy from time to time. K, the city of Hanover makes it possible for all bathers to bathe “topless” – including women and people who do not identify themselves with a gender. Many feel disturbed by the mere thought of the new bathing regulations. And yet it’s the wise decision, says Dany Schrader. Read now

Weidetorkreisel in Hanover: defective bridge is replaced – we show the variants for a new bridge or tunnel
The Schnellweg bridge over the Weidetorkreisel is also so dilapidated that it has to be supported. In addition to a new bridge, a trough tunnel like the horse tower is also being discussed as a replacement variant – but Hanover has no money for the necessary subsidy to the federal government. But one thing is already clear: the roundabout will disappear and there will be a crossroads instead. Read now
