Andreas Schjelderup, Football | Andreas Schjelderup (18) is raging in Denmark: – Has been terrific
Schjelderup has recorded five goals and one assist during the first game of this season. The small club from Farum on Zealand, just north of Copenhagen, also sensationally tops the league in Denmark.
The 18-year-old from Bodø has long been referred to as a mega-talent.
This season has really blossomed and has been a major contributor to the club’s good start to the season.
– He has been terrific this season, the sports editor of the Danish major newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Michel Wikkelsø Davidsen, tells Nettavisen.
Davidsen follows the Superliga closely and has noticed the Norwegian’s achievements.
– He is at a level where he no longer looks like a talent, but just has to be categorized as a really good Superliga player. He has fantastic technique, a sublime eye for the game and has shown great development in his finishing. He plays on the currently best team in the Super League, where he is among the best players. We are talking about a breakthrough for Schjelderup.

Bid from big club
The 18-year-old’s achievements are also added to outside Denmark. According to Danish BT Sevilla tried to buy Schjelderup already this summer, but Nordsjælland chose to turn down a big offer from the Spanish big club.
There must be talk of an amount that is included with bonuses that could exceed 10 million euros, reports BT. Since all parties must have agreed that a transfer away from Nordsjælland this summer might be in the earliest, he therefore remained at the club.
According to Nettavisen, Nordsjælland is still in concrete dialogue with Sevilla about Schjelderup. The La Liga club has made it clear that they want to secure the Norwegian.
In Sevilla, it is the legendary sports director Monchi who takes care of the negotiations with the Danish club with the aim of reaching an agreement on a transfer.

– Not by chance
Schjelderup went to Nordsjælland from Bodø/Glimt in the summer of 2020, and during the previous seasons has also shown proof that something big is in store.
With that, Davidsen believes that it doesn’t really come as a big surprise that the 18-year-old has impressed so much this season, even if the great talent has also had some adversity.
– When he appeared as a 16-year-old a few seasons ago, you could see that the boy had the potential for a huge breakthrough in the Super League and a big sale. But last season, the fluctuations were greater for Schjelderup, who was also hit by injuries and never quite got into top form. But this season has just been mouth-watering, says Davidsen.
– I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that Ståle Solbakken was at the stadium in Farum at the last North Zealand game, he adds.

The U18 national team
But even though Solbakken recently took a closer look at Schjelderup, the 18-year-old was not part of the Norwegian national team manager’s squad that he took out last week.
The strong start to the season in Denmark was also not enough to be selected for the U21 national team. Schjelderup was instead selected for the U18 national team, which will play a tournament in Sweden. In the past, he has missed matches for the U21 national team.
The Danish Superliga is a league with a flood of great talents, but Davidsen is nevertheless clear that Schjelderup is one of the biggest talents in the league.
Davidsen counts Schjelderup among the three biggest talents in the league, along with team-mate in Nordsjælland Ernest Nuamah and FC Copenhagen’s Victor Kristiansen.
– Suffering from it
The sports editor says that there is not much talk about Schjelderup in Denmark anyway, but thinks it comes from which club he plays for.
– Schjelderup suffers a little from the fact that, although Nordsjælland is recognized as probably the league’s best talent developer, it is a team that can go under the radar in the general population for a long time. Scouts from the big teams in Europe love to come to Farum and see their talents, but Danes are more interested in Brøndby, FCK and AGF. That is why Schjelderup is not talked about that much – not even when he is not Danish, says Davidsen.

Until then, Schjelderup is still a Nordsjælland player, but Davidsen is clear that the 18-year-old has soon grown too big for the Danish league.
North Zealand has recently developed many talents who have been sold to bigger clubs, such as Kamaldeen (Rennes), Mohamed Kudus (Ajax) and Andreas Skov Olsen (Club Brugge).
Nordsjælland is a club that does not sell talent for less than seven million euros, and Davidsen believes that Schjelderup can soon be sold for a sum well above that.
PS! Andreas Schjelderup played the entire game on Friday evening when Nordsjælland suffered its second loss of the season in the match against Randers. The score was 1-0.
