Upa Siena: starting on September 26th “Said and done”
The first episode on “Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027, what future for companies?”
SIENA. The Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 will be the theme of the first episode of “Detto e fatto”, the new format created by the Provincial Farmers Union of Siena and Confagricoltura in which, on a monthly basis, the most current issues in the agricultural world will be discussed.
An event entitled “Ecoschemi. Knowledge and innovation ”which from 9 am in live streaming on the Facebook page and Youtube channel of the Provincial Farmers Union of Siena will see the intervention of numerous speakers.
“We are approaching the new reform of the Common Agricultural Policy with expectations and many concerns – explains Gianluca Cavicchioli, director of the Provincial Farmers Union of Siena. While waiting to experience the contents in the field and have the first feedback, we wanted to organize a moment of reflection on what has happened and what could happen to our companies. With the agricultural economist Ermanno Comegna, we will discuss the times of application of the new policy, while we will talk about agricultural ecosystems with the associate professor at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences – of the University of Perugia Angelo Frascarelli ”.
Instead, Vincenzo Lenucci, director of the Economic Development Policies of the Agri-food Sectors of Confagricoltura, will meet the expectations of the Confederation.
“The framework of the CAP reform that will come into force next year – comments the director general of Confagricoltura Annamaria Barrile – contains many critical issues that Confagricoltura has immediately highlighted: it does not favor the protection of farmers’ income, nor the availability of agricultural raw materials and food at affordable prices for consumers, as provided for in the Treaty. We need to update the CAP with the times: we are taught by the emergencies that we have been facing for three years now. And the Green Deal strategy applied to crops and livestock goes with the times and needs “.
The episode will go beyond national borders with the testimonies of Fnsea – Fédération nationale des syndicats d’exploitants agricoles. Dr. Roberto Berutti, a member of the cabinet of the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development J. Wojciechowski, will also speak to talk about the start of the 2021-2027 reform.
The last part of the episode focuses on agricultural policies, an opportunity to comment on those implemented and understand what they have left behind. Gianluca Brunori, professor at the University of Pisa, Luca Toschi professor at the University of Florence, Alberto Prestininzi professor at La Sapienza University and Gabriele Canali professor at the Catholic Sacred Heart University will speak: “It is necessary that the measures are intended to stimulate the adoption of improvements by producers in widespread supply chains that have the greatest impact on the environment. The war in Ukraine – adds Canali – has highlighted the dependence of the European agri-food system on certain agricultural materials such as soy and corn. These decisive crops for animal husbandry, at present, have remained quite at the margins of the ecosystem system. Do not dare them the opportunity to develop more environmentally friendly practices, it can be a mistake that can be paid dearly ”.
