Thessaloniki: New round of incidents and chemicals at AUTH
According to reports, the group of people left the ongoing concert inside the university and threw stones at the police force who guarded the library.
Police responded by using chemicals and stun grenades to disperse the crowd.
Over 400 people came out to Egnatia Street and set up barricades in front of the Kamara.
The center of Thessaloniki, from the University of Athens and up to Aristotelous Street, for some time resembled a battlefield.
The police took out “Avra”, while the people who had set up barricades in Kamara, burned bins and shouted at the police that they were going to die.
The people, mainly from the anti-authoritarian space, continued for some time the stone war with the police forces along Egnatia. “Avra” tried several times to disperse the crowd.
The police made arrests.
The serious incidents that started from the main gate of AUTH, ended shortly before 02.00 above the statue of El. Venizelou. The section of Egnatia Street that had been closed was opened to traffic a while ago.
