My tip: Little Prague just over the border? Take a walk with us through the center of Kladsk
Little Prague is nicknamed the Polish Kladsk, said to be because of its resemblance to the Czech metropolis. No, Prague certainly offers more of those beauties, but this Polish city cannot be denied that it has its interesting corners. Among the big attractions here is a kind of scale model of Prague’s Charles Bridge, which bears the name of St. Jana.

Czechs, Germans and Poles also left their traces here. Both the Kladsk Fortress and the underground route under the city and its historic center are worth a visit.
Here you will find the Gothic bridge of St. John decorated with statues. It is said to be one of the most beautiful monuments in Kladsk. It is said to be slightly older than the larger Prague Karl Karla tells that the sandstone building blocks were joined with mortar made from hen’s eggs, which the inhabitants of the city and the surrounding area were forced to supply for the construction. Statues were added here only in the 16th to 18th centuries. From the bridge you can admire the remains of the medieval city walls and the square under the bridge where city events take place.
A little higher on the square in the historic center, where the town hall also stands, you will see a baroque fountain with a statue of a crowned lion leaning on the city’s coat of arms. The column with a strange statuette resembling Honza with a sack on his back is nothing more than a 16th century city pillory. There are also a number of historic buildings with interesting decorations.
If you want to learn more about the local history, then head to the building of the former Jesuit dormitory, where the Museum of the Land of Kladsk is located.
