Bilbao, before the only night marathon
On Saturday, October 22, starting at 7:00 p.m., a total of 10,000 runners will participate in the thirteenth edition of the TotalEnergies Bilbao Night Marathon, over three distances: 42 kilometers of the classic distance, 21 of the average and 10 of the pirate race. It is the only night marathon included in the national racing calendar and the sporting event with the highest participation in the province in the last seven years, as well as the event with the largest number of participating countries in all of Euskadi. The former marathon runner Martín Fiz acted as ambassador in the presentation of the test. He will compete in the pirate. There are elite athletes and amateurs.
The San Mamés stadium will set the stage for the start. And the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao will be the beautiful setting for the finish line. A circuit will be covered through emblematic areas of the city, such as the Gran Vía, the Euskalduna, the Zubizuri bridge, the Isozaki towers, the Arriaga Theatre, the City Hall, the Guggenheim Museum and the areas of Deusto and San Ignacio.

This time it returns to normal after leaving behind the restrictions due to the pandemic. “The slogan is that it is not just another race, but a complete experience of sports, fun, music and gastronomy. It is what we offer to all”, highlight its promoters.
In the Botica Vieja area, a straight line has been set up to improve records. The output in San Mamés will continue with music, flames and fireworks. And on the tour there is more animation with other music bands at different places along the route. A led metal arch will be installed at the Guggenheim with a giant screen. There are more than a thousand volunteers from sports clubs, with an investment of more than 50,000 euros, although the price of registration has not been raised.
