The autumn part of the festival Setkání kultur traditionally starts in Kyjy, on Saturday, September 17, an evening full of lively music is prepared. The lecture and discussion is held in the popular Maňána café in Chernomorets in the second half of October. Prague 14 councilor Martin Kouklík (KDU-ČSL), who is in charge of social areas and healthcare, informed about this.
“The Meeting of Cultures Festival is already one of our regulars. A large number of foreigners live in Prague 14. Now, in connection with the war in Ukraine, their number has increased even more. Even more so, I consider activities aimed at supporting good relations between majority companies and minorities to be very important. I will be happy if they really enjoy the finale of this year’s festival with us when you visit and also find new friendships,” said Prague 4 councilor Martin Kouklík (KDU-ČSL), who has been in charge of social areas and healthcare since January of this year.
This year’s Meeting of Cultures is already the thirteenth. This time, the city district prepared it for the financial support of the municipality. The goal of the event is not only to strengthen mutual respect between majority and minority society, but also to bring the customs and culture of other nations closer together.
“The autumn finale, to which we are currently inviting, was preceded by a number of activities organized before the summer holidays. People could use the offer of the Municipal Library in Prague, the Rajská zahrada branch and borrow the works of a number of world authors, the leisure center Hloubětínská 55 (H55) offered a Bulgarian weekend and the Kardashovská Community Center a travel discussion with a tasting,” listed councilor Kouklík.
In the coming days, as part of the Meeting of Coming Cultures, a Musical Composition Evening is also being produced. This time it will be held in the Cultural House in Kyjy (Šimanovská 47), on Saturday, September 17 from 6 p.m. Visitors can look forward to a performance by the band SHUM DAVAR, whose songs combine elements of Balkan, Slovak, Armenian, Georgian and Belarusian music.
The evening will also be spiced up with čardáš and Spanish rhythms by the popular Roma band Bengas and the production of excellent musicians Milan Kroka, Tibor Žida and Radek Sivák. Moderator Richard Samko will lead the visitors’ program.
The Setkání kultura campaign will end the lecture with a discussion on the topic of Greece and its philosophers, which will take place on Tuesday, October 20, from 6:30 p.m. in the Maňána Café on Černý Most.
