The Zlatá Praha Festival will welcome Dagmar Pecková and dance to Latin American rhythms — ČT24 — Czech Television
This year, Zlatá Praha will present ninety artistic pictures, most of them in competition. “It shows at least two things. For one thing, even during the pandemic and in today’s difficult situation, great films are being made. And the second thing is that Golden Prague has great prestige in the world. This is evidenced by the fact that the chairman of the jury is the executive head of the Franco-German TV station Arte Wolfgang Bergmann,” notes the director of the festival and at the same time the executive director of CT Art Tomáš Motl.
According to him, the pandemic was also reflected in the form of films and programs from the music, dance and theater environment, which the festival focuses on. “The moment you can’t shoot in concert halls or theaters because they’re closed, filmmakers are looking for ways to transfer movies to other environments and shoot them differently,” he explained.
Thus, for example, a recording of Schubert’s song cycle Winter Journey from the Swiss Alps or Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on the uninhabited Greek island of Delos was created.
Mucha, Dalibor and StarDance
Czech Television’s creations are also represented in the program by the documentaries My Life with Bohuslav Martinů, a concert recording of the multimedia show iMucha, which connected the music and moving images of Alfons Mucha, or a recording of the opera Dalibor staged by the National Theatre. Zlatá Praha will also present the world premiere of the documentary Theatrical Secret, filmed in honor of choreographer Jiří Kylián.
“All competition films are available to the public at kiosks in the foyer of the New Stage, anyone can come at any time and watch any film,” Motl reminded. During the four festival days, Zlatá Praha will also offer an accompanying program. For example, the family Golden Day of Golden Prague, where people can meet, among other things, participants of the dance show StarDance. They can get on the dance floor themselves in the Dance Room, which will be carried by Latin American rhythms.
