North Macedonia agreed on Tuesday to purchase from Greece 1,000,000 tons of lignite and 250,000 tons of fuel oil for the production of additional electricity, according to the general manager of the state electricity company ESM, Vasko Kovacevski.

During the consultation of the same day on the Telma TV station, Basko Kovacevski mentioned that the lignite will mainly cover the production devices of Bitola, but part of the quantities can also be used in the thermoelectric plant in Oslomei, while the fuel oil in the thermoelectric plant. unit of Negotino.
“Today (ss: yesterday) we agreed for the next 12 months to receive about 80,000 tons per month, mainly for the needs of Bitola, but part of the quantities can also be used for Oslomei.

»In 12 months we must receive one million tons of lignite at a competitive price. We believe that with these quantities we will satisfy the additional needs to cover the production of the additional required electricity.
“Regarding fuel oil, the price is regulated and today (yesterday) we discussed quantities needed from November to the end of April, for seven months.
»30,000 – 35,000 tons per month or a total of 250,000 tons per heating season will be required. Of these, 80-90 percent are destined for the Negotino thermal power station, part of the quantities also changing for Bitto and Oslomea,” said the ESM general manager.
He recalled that at the end of February and the beginning of March an agreement was concluded for the purchase of 144,000 tons of fuel oil and this agreement lasts until October.
