Prague 3 applied for a subsidy for the conversion of a former spa into a dance center
Prague – The City Hall of Prague 3 has applied for a subsidy of 188 million crowns from the National Renewal Plan, which it wants to use for the reconstruction of the former municipal spa in Husitská Street in Žižkov to a dance center. ČTK informed the Pavel Trojan district about it. The house of dance will be created in cooperation with the non-profit organization Tanec Praha. The estimated total cost of the reconstruction is 278 million crowns.
In the past, the organization Tanec Praha was successful in the Prague 3 tender for the lease of a four-story building, and the council provided a study, analyzes and other documents for the grant application. “The space is suitable for the creation of rehearsal rooms, workshops, a sound studio, a wellness center and a cafe or dining room. For those interested in all age categories, we also want to add open exams, lessons, debates, a reading room, a library and, above all, insight into creative processes and the possibility of working with professionals.” said the director of Dance Praha, Yvona Kreuzmannová.
The Žižkov Baths were in operation since 1903 and had, among other things, two swimming pools and a steam bath. Eventually, the building served several other purposes. The house has been empty in recent years. Last September, the House of Dance Arts was also opened on the grounds of the former Branice Brewery, where, for example, the conservatory Taneční centrum Praha is located.
The Czech Republic will distribute money from the National Recovery Plan from the EU fund until 2026. The plan was created as a tool to mitigate the effects of the covid-19 epidemic and restart the economy with the use of European money from the EU Recovery and Resilience Instrument between 2021 and 2027. The Czech Republic should in get 179 billion crowns in the form of grants.
