Prague – Scooters and motorcycles could start driving in the reserved lanes for public transport buses in the capital. The management of Prague sent the plan to the road administration office. The new rule could come into force from the beginning of next year. The mayor’s deputy Adam Scheinherr (Praha Sobě) told journalists today. In addition to public transport buses, ambulances and taxis can also use the reserved lanes.
“We did it mainly with the emphasis on the fact that I think it is appropriate to support scooters. It is dangerous when it goes between cars. I do not see that this measure would in any way disrupt the operation of the integrated rescue system and public transport bus lanes,” said Scheinherr.
The change must be discussed by the concerned authorities. According to the square, the Road Administration Office has already posted the plan on the official board. “I expect that the change could come into effect at the beginning of next year,” he added.
There are around 40 lanes reserved for public transport in the capital. The lanes are also used by police officers, constables, rescuers or taxi drivers. In some places they are also for cyclists.
