Coke gang hacked Antwerp port company, demands up to 12 years in prison
In order to get containers in which coke was hidden on European soil unchecked, the computer system of the Antwerp Euroterminal (AET) company in the port of Antwerp was allegedly hacked. This would have happened with the help of a corrupt contact within the company.
Police and justification between the suspects on the trail last year through intercepted crypto communications between the suspects. no list was ultimately made to commit murder, ranging from importing cargo. An attempt to import 5000 kilos of coke failed as the mega consignment was already intercepted in Costa Rica in February 2020.
Secret messages
The highest requirement was for 56-year-old Bob Z. from Ridderkerk. According to juste, he was not only guilty of a drug trade. Z. and one of the co-defendants had an argument about a batch of 100 kilos of cocaine, which they believed to be entitled, according to the Public Prosecution Service. They threatened to punish the opposing party by kidnapping their daughters or killing them if 1.2 million euros were not paid. The police were able to intervene using them with secret messages.
This reading also revealed the computer hack at AET. The hack took place in September 2020, via a USB stick with malware that would have been given by suspect Davy de V. (41) to a bribed employee. In this way access could be received to the system. The Public Prosecution Service demanded ten years in prison against De V.
“Thoughtful and sophisticated”, that is how the public prosecutor described the suspect’s manner. “The ease and sophistication was made – it was really business as usual.” According to the Public Prosecution Service, the suspects led an inconspicuous existence. “But behind that facade hides a whole world of brutal crime.”
