Waltalingen: driver arrested after a self-accident
Shortly before 6 p.m., a man drove his car on Mülibachstrasse in the direction of Guntalingen. He lost control of his vehicle at the exit of a left-hand bend and crashed sideways into a tree. The suspected cause of the accident, a 26-year-old Portuguese, was found and checked a short time later in Unterstammheim by the Zurich cantonal police. He fled the scene of the accident on foot and was carrying a small amount of narcotics. The man was dangerous and had to be taken to a hospital in an ambulance. He does not have a valid Swiss driving license and was arrested on suspicion of speeding. The exact course of the accident is being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police and the public prosecutor’s office. The responsible public prosecutor ordered blood and urine samples to be taken. Because of the accident, Mülibachstrasse remained closed until around 9 p.m.
Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the rescue service from the hospitals in Schaffhausen, the public prosecutor’s office in Winterthur/Unterland and, due to leaking liquids, the AWEL and the Stammertal fire brigade were on duty.
