New male gorilla at the Prague Zoo – Cysnews
Today at 1:05 a.m., male gorilla Kisumu ran out of the transport box into the grounds of the new pavilion. His transport from the Austrian Schmiding Zoo, where he lived until now, took five hours.
Kisumu was born on May 27, 1997 at the Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich, where he was raised by his parents Sonja and Roututu. From there he was moved to a youth group in Schmiding in 2004. In the Prague Zoo, he is to become the leading male of the local family group.
In the following days and weeks, Kisumu will still be separated from the Prague females and Ajabu. However, in a week he will be joined by the female Duni, the daughter of our famous Moja, who will be transported from Cabárcena, Spain, by a CASA army plane. Only then will all the gorillas in the new pavilion be combined into one group.
