Three percent of people in Prague are without work, more than in July
Unemployment in Prague rose to three percent in August from 2.7 percent in July. At the end of the holidays, 27,326 people were looking for a new job in the metropolis through employment offices, roughly 2,300 more than in July. The number of vacant positions in the offer decreased slightly month-on-month to 76,110. The data was published by the Labor Office of the Czech Republic today. Last August, unemployment in the metropolis was 3.4 percent.
The average unemployment rate in the entire Czech Republic was 3.4 percent at the end of August. Lower unemployment than Prague, including six regions. The Pardubice and South Bohemian regions were the best with an unemployment rate of 2.5 percent. On the contrary, 5.2 percent of people were unemployed in the Ústí Region.
The number of vacancies in the capital fell in the second holiday month. At the end of July, there were 76,207 places on offer at employment offices, and a month later there were roughly 100 fewer. Even so, it is the most of all regions.
The number of applicants for the same period rose by 2,337 to 27,326. At the end of August, there were 24,917 so-called attainable unemployed people who could start work immediately. This too was increased by roughly 2,300 people.
On average, there are 0.4 applicants per vacant position in the capital. Six districts in the whole of the Czech Republic have a lower ratio. In Mladoboleslavsk and in the Praha-východ district, there is one candidate for every five vacancies. On the contrary, in the Karvinska region, an average of over nine people apply for one place.
