New Secretary General in the Health Directorate
The General Secretariat of the Health Directorate will be headed by Daniel Roth. Daniel Roth completed his law studies in 1997 after being admitted to the bar in Bern. From 2000 to 2002 he completed postgraduate studies in international business law (LL.M.) at the University of Zurich. At the beginning of his professional career he worked as a lawyer. He then headed the liquidation/reorganization section at Neue Aargauer Bank. From 2004 to 2010 he worked for the Swiss Financial Supervisory Authority FINMA (formerly the Swiss Federal Banking Commission SFBC), most recently as a member of the extended executive board. He then moves to the Federal Department of Finance, where he heads major projects and interdisciplinary working groups as Head of Legal Services and a member of the Executive Board. He has been the city clerk of the city of Aarau since May 2016 and, with his great affinity for digitization issues, made a significant contribution to the digitization of the administration. With a view to the digital transformation in administration and healthcare, digitization should also be given more weight within the health department, which will create a new digitization department by splitting up the Finance & Digital Management department.
Due to his many years of administrative work and the associated broad experience in staff and management functions as well as his sound legal knowledge, Daniel Roth has the best qualifications for the position as Secretary General of the Health Directorate.
The previous incumbent, lic. iur. Walter Dietrich, who has held various positions in the Health Department since 1996, is moving to the Health Department of the Canton of Zug in the same position.
