Lamps resembling a tree were installed in Prague PRAGUE | News
The so-called green lamps are testing the Technology of the Capital City of Prague on the territory of Prague. The people of Prague can test the new type of public lighting in Prague 6 in Dejvická street and also near the Hradčanská metro station.
“These green lamps were inspired by Singapore, when they are trying to bring greenery to the city center, to places where this greenery has not yet grown. It is a steel structure on which climbing plants grow, the mast of the steel structure is planted in a pot with clay and plants are planted there. There are a total of 5 types of these plants. This steel structure reaches a height of five meters and is fitted with two 28-watt led lights. Two original public lighting masts were originally placed at these places on Dejvická Street and Hradčanská Street, the means that there has been a full replacement in terms of lighting parameters next to these two masts, and by replacing the original sodium discharge lamps with a power of 150 watts with new sodium lamps, electricity is saved, for example,” said Tomáš Novotný, board of directors of THMP.
According to Prague 6, the locations for placing the lamp were chosen in places where it is very complicated or almost impossible to plant trees. However, the aim is not to replace living trees, but to place greenery where it would not be possible otherwise. If the pilot project proves successful, neither the district nor the municipality excludes the extension of these lamps to other places in the metropolis.
“If both the city hall and the citizens are satisfied and the project takes hold and brings what we promise from it. That means it will bring more greenery to the city center, but also a special lighting solution, so it is expected that it also possibly modified what concerns the visual, with the fact that the entire investment event cost about half a million crowns as a prototype solution, however, the led lights are already included in it. regime, so we assume that it will cost much more less,” said Jan Chabr, head councillor. m of Prague.
Climbing plants were grown by the Czech University of Agriculture for the use of green lamps. It is assumed that in the course of the next year, greenery should cover the entire structure of the lamp.
