Heroes’ Day at the Prague Exhibition Center: the work of the IZS units, 20 years since the flood

Prague, September 8, 2022 (PROTEXT) – As is tradition, this year the components of the integrated system will present their daily work to the general public at the Prague Exhibition Center as part of Heroes’ Day. The upcoming year will also commemorate the floods of 2002, not only through interactive demonstrations of the construction of anti-flood barriers, but also through a traveling thematic exhibition. All the main components of the IZS will then present their work in practice.
Over 100 vehicles and other techniques, XXVIII. year of the memorial JUDr. František Kohout in rescuing people from crashed vehicles, over twenty competitive teams from the ranks of professional and company firefighters from all over the Czech Republic, among others the special vehicle of the Prague Medical Rescue Service Golem, Fénix and the all-terrain ATV Polaris, roping rescue dogs or police horses in a smoke clone, that everything and other programs await visitors on 9/24. 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the park area and on the Brussels route at the Exhibition Center. From 6:45 p.m., the program will continue at the tram turnstile at the Planetarium with practical demonstrations of the Transport Company hl. m Prague in recovering a derailed tram. The event is open to all ages and admission is free.
20 years since the flood
As part of the twenty-year anniversary of the 2002 flood, a special exhibition of the Museum of the Capital City of Prague commemorating a century of water will travel to the Exhibition Center from Kampa, and a symbolic flood wall will be built with the participation of the general public. Visitors will see where the water reached during the floods at the Exhibition Center and can also look forward to an exhibit from the Fire Protection Exposition in Zbiroh. The HZS and SDH units will then demonstrate how to defend against heavy water.
“This year’s Heroes’ Day will be somewhat special thanks to the sad anniversary of the 20th anniversary of the floods, which affected not only Prague. That is why we dedicated part of the program to this event with many practical demonstrations of anti-flood measures by the rescue services. But we will also involve visitors in the event, when not only for children will be ready for five hundred bags to fill with sand and build a flood wall of various widths and heights. But of course we will pay tribute to all the components of the integrated rescue system. The event will be full of interactive fun for the whole family and I, as always, believe that especially from a number of dads again, the boys will stay for a while and fulfill their childhood dreams of being rescuers and try out heavy equipment,” says Tomáš Hübl, chairman of the board of Výstaviště Praha a.s. and founder of Heroes’ Day.
Speleology, rescue dog training and the latest Polaris rescue four-wheeler
The rich program will delight both young and old visitors, when all important rescue services will be presented through dynamic and practical demonstrations. As part of practical demonstrations, the Medical Rescue Service of the capital will demonstrate their work. m of Prague, Fire and rescue corps hl. m of Prague, City Police Hl. m of Prague, Police of the Czech Republic, Army of the Czech Republic, Military Police, HZS Václav Havel Airport, HZS Transport Enterprise hl. m of Prague, Administration of services hl. m of Prague, Speleological Rescue Station, Canine Brigade, Prison Service of the Czech Republic, Main Mining Rescue Station Prague and Water Rescue Service.
“We are very pleased to be able to participate in Heroes’ Day and introduce our regular work to the public. Visitors will be able to see our special both our standard paramedics and doctors, as well as the Golem emergency module, the special Fénix vehicle and the latest addition between vehicles – a Polaris all-terrain four-wheeler. Those interested will also be introduced to the work of emergency line dispatchers, and they will be able to brush up on the basics of providing first aid, including indirect heart massage, on practice figures.” says Petr Kolouch, director of the Medical Rescue Service m of Prague.
There will also be special demonstrations of technology such as the PČR helicopter, the SSHMP rescue tank, the Panter airport special, the GOLEM rescue special or the Tatra PRAM with mortar. Dynamic demonstrations will then offer the rescue of people from crashed vehicles, a demonstration of the training of horses of the Municipal Police Hl. m of Prague, a demonstration of the training of rescue dogs, demonstrations of abseiling and rescue using speleologists, as well as the rescue of a derailed tram (final demonstration at 6:45 p.m. at the final tram roundabout near the Planetarium).
XXVIII. Memorial JUDr. František Kohouta
Professional teams from all over the country will compete as part of the JUDr. Memorial. František Kohout in rescuing people from crashed vehicles. “The upcoming year of the JUDr. František Kohout Memorial in extrication from traffic accidents is a unique event in its scope. This year, over twenty teams of professional and company firefighters from all over the Czech Republic will take part in the competition. The competition team of Slovak professional firefighters has also accepted the invitation. The audience will see real scenarios and the simulation of traffic accidents and the work of firefighters literally in a live broadcast,” Martin Kavka, chief commissioner of the Fire and Rescue Service, invites visitors. m Prague.
Little hero passport
The passport of the little hero will again be prepared for children who will receive a playing card and, after completing the tasks, will receive prizes from the MHMP, the IZS components and Výstaviště Praha. “The Department of Security of the Capital City of Prague works closely with the IZS units on a daily basis. We are happy that we were able to participate financially in Heroes’ Day. We appreciate the work of all units, and not only during the floods in 2002, which we are commemorating this year. And because this the event is also aimed at children, we have prepared prizes for them in our country in the Passport of a Little Hero competition,” the director of the security department, Mr. m Prague JUDr. Markéta Štalmachová.
Prevention for schoolchildren of Primary School Prague 7 as part of the Little Hero and Traffic Hero event
From Monday 19 September to Thursday 22 September, training for the first grade classes of ZŠ Prague 7 (2nd and 4th grades, approx. 1,000 children) in the areas of: fire prevention (HZS), principles of first aid (ZZS), traffic safety (MP), safe behavior on the Internet (PČR) and, at the end of the morning, a dynamic demonstration of all components directly on site.
For children of the second grade of ZŠ Prague 7 (8th and 9th grades, approx. 500 children) it will be prepared on September 19 and 20. always from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Výstaviště tram turnpike, training in connection with safe movement in normal city road traffic and preparation for driving school. The event takes place in cooperation with the HMP Transport Company – ZABIJAČKA tram (visual examples of the length of the braking distance of the tram, the possibility of entering the driver’s cabin, etc.), BESIP (13 minutes campaign – preparation of future drivers, traffic safety), Association of driving schools (selection of driving schools and test tests) and Planetarium (showing an illustrative video and the future of the vehicle).
