8/9/2022 Petr Pavlik
The Spartans get back into match action when they play in Aalborg, Denmark on Friday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. Coach Pavel Patera’s men have a difficult task ahead of them – to atone for two home defeats and finally start their winning streak. How will our hockey players do? You can watch their actions live on Sport TV.
Two goals from the captain, attractive opponents and two defeats
The Spartans have had an unsuccessful entry into the new season of the hockey Champions League, when the points came out empty in the opening two rounds. At first, the Praguers were not enough at home in Aalborg, Denmark, narrowly 2:3, and then they lost with the same result in Sunday’s game against Lulea. While in the first match our team led twice thanks to two hits by captain Řepík, in the second match they only made up for the opponent’s goal loss. The goal of Miroslav Forman, who scored just three seconds before the end of the game and cosmetically adjusted the score to 2:3, did not change the result.
In the second game in the CHL, the talented Josef Kořenář started in goal, and this time he got priority over his goalkeeper colleague Jakub Kovář. However, even his many successful interventions were not enough for a point gain, the Spartans resisted being in the game for a long time and could think about success. “We were not a worse team. Compared to Friday’s game, we definitely see an improvement. This is a positive for us. The match against the Swedes was not entirely bad from our side. Unfortunately, a goal in the third period decided it for us, I thought it was too high. On the other hand, it is difficult to assess the whole situation in retrospect. What can be done, let’s move on” cheered Kořenář after the second defeat.
The Danish champion succeeded in Prague, he hesitated against Jukurit
The reigning champion of the Danish league opened up about his actions in this year’s Champions League in Prague, where he took away a valuable body. Aalborg had a very good position before the second match, but it could not be used in Finland against home team Jukurit and lost to the opponent 3:5. The Finnish team was in shooting form when it scored five times thanks to a strike by former Třinec striker Ondřej Kovařčík.
