The Tale of the Water Fairy and Dvořák the Traveler. Dvořák’s Prague prepared a family day
Dvořák’s Prague Family Day will take place in the cathedral on September 10. It will include creative workshops and a concert by the Pilsen Philharmonic.
Dvořák Prague International Music Festival prepared a traditional Dvořák’s Prague Family Day. Morning program for preschool and school children starts at 10 a.m. in the Rudolfinum and is completely free, from 5 p.m. you can visit the musical-dramatic program Dvořák the Traveler in the Bethlehem Chapel intended for ages 8 and up.
Theater and workshops: Rusalka
From 10 o’clock on the steps of the Rudolfinum, the ensemble will approach Quite a big theater z Litvínov to the youngest viewers of the world-famous opera by Antonín Dvořák about a water fairy who falls in love with a man and sacrifices her immortality in order to become his wife. This actually drama performance, which is intended for audiences aged 5 and up, lasts about sixty minutes (in contrast to Rusalka, as composed by Dvořák, which lasts almost three hours). But don’t worry, you definitely won’t miss the most famous aria.
After the performance, they will start inside the Rudolfinum creative workshops, where children will get to know the main characters of the Rusalka opera in a fun way. They will find out what mood Aquarius is in and how the lake is colored according to her, they will know what images are reflected in the pond in the moonlight and they will help the Sorceress mix a magic potion. Anyone who wants to can make a puppet. At the end, there will be a dance at the castle.
Timbalooloo connects
At 1 p.m., they form on the steps of the Rudolfinum interactive concert with the project Timbalooloo, on which we will experience that music is also a universal language for learning about the world, different cultures and styles. The concert will be the culmination of a series of suburban summer camps for Czech and Ukrainian children organized under the auspices of the Karel Komárek Family Foundation. And even here you will find some “Dvořák trace”.
Dvořák the traveler
Travel the world with Antonín Dvořák! Pilsen Philharmonicstrict Chuhei Iwasaki and authors Martin Pášma and Tomáš Ille prepared the program Dvořák the traveler, which combines Dvořák’s compositions with a fictitious conversation that the composer could have had on board the ocean liner Saale with the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. This year marks 130 years since Dvořák’s famous trip to the United States, which brought a number of world-famous compositions.
Family concert starts at 5 p.m. in the CTU Hall in the Bethlehem Chapel.
