The rest of the bridge is located on the track between Vysoany and Horni Poernice in the triangle formed by the railway line, Za ernm mostem and Ciglerová streets. Due to the fact that the Railway Department wants to remove the remains of the bridge, the representative discussed a proposal to apply for a land grant to the property of the municipality.
If we don’t slow it down, the Railway Authority will tear it down, said mayor Ji Zajac (ODS).
If the town hall lost the torso of the bridge, it would repair it, according to former mayor and representative Petr Hukal (Pirti). In the future, it could then become a lookout city, which would be part of the national routes along the city road, and at the same time, a cycle path would lead around it.
Some representatives drew attention to the fact that the repairs would be more difficult, because the trunk is right next to the track and the right-hand train would have to stop. The discussion was about repair costs and gossip. According to preliminary estimates, the repair could cost between seven and ten million crowns.
The bridge got its name because it was blackened by the soot from steam locomotives that traveled here along the line from Prague to Elkovice. The original bridge was stone, but at the turn of the 20th century it was replaced by a concrete bridge. Today, a ten-meter-long torso of one of the bridge entrances can be preserved.
